Week one from the trenches is looking pretty good. From my list of 76 agents I’ve compiled, I’ve sent out thirteen queries. So far, I’ve yet to receive a response, good, bad, or indifferent. I’ll take that as a win!
Read more: Query trenches: Week oneMy goal is to submit 20-25 queries, then wait a couple of months before sending out more, in case I need to adjust my query letter. I’m confident in my pages thanks to my wonderful editor, Bonnie. In between queries, I plan to catch up on some reading and continue working on my drafts. I have two works demanding my attention, and it’s been a struggle to know where to put my energies. My idea for a supernatural gothic fantasy has a premise I think would stand out, but it’s been more of a struggle to get the ideas down than with my follow-up story to Curse Forged. Perhaps I need to give it time to simmer.
As I wait for responses, I’ll share a bonus photo of my boys and me snuggled up for the evening with a good book. I just finished Thea Gaunzon’s The Hurricane Wars and A Monsoon Rising, and looking for my next read.
