The developmental edit is complete, line edits are back and reviewed, and I am one step closer to entering the query trenches!
Read more: LINE EDITS COMPLETEMy editor, Bonnie, has been such a fantastic and supportive guide through this whole process. At first, I was planning to self-publish because, as my debut novel, I was certain it wouldn’t be strong enough to stand out in the query trenches. However, Bonnie thought otherwise and strongly encouraged me to try. I’ve spent a year drafting, six months working with her, and now we are probably weeks away from sending out my first query. We are currently working on refining my query letter and polishing my synopsis.
I’ll be honest, I’m a bit of a pessimist at heart. It can be easier to assume the worst and then be surprised when things work out rather than go in full of hope only to have it squashed. Do I think my story is good? Of course. Is it the absolute best I can make it before sending it out for scrutiny? Without a doubt, but I also know it can only get better, and if the right agent and publisher finds me, I am more than prepared to keep working on it until it’s ready for print.
So, if you are an agent who happened to stumble across my site, welcome! Let me assure you, this work is all my own. I’ve poured my heart, time, and a little financial investment into it, hoping it will shine. Check back in a few weeks. I’ll keep you all posted once the first queries are sent out.
