It’s been over three weeks since I started my query journey. So far, I’ve sent out 37 queries and received seven responses. All rejections, unfortunately.

Two ideas have been stirring in my brain, and I’m struggling to decide which to focus on. One is a modern supernatural mystery, and the other is a cozy dark fairytale. Cozy and dark might not seem like they go together, but it leans into a mix of Princess Bride meets Disney’s Maleficent, where the villain is the main character. My husband is a huge Dean Koontz fan, so he prefers the other and has even taken the initiative of outlining a story he would like me to write. What he handed me was honestly pretty good, so that story may be a fun cooperative project that we co-author.
Needless to say, there is too much to do and little enough time in the day to tackle it all. But now that the weather is nice and the days are longer, I’m looking forward to spending evenings outside with the dogs and writing. Golden sunsets, golden retrievers, and cold Cokes.
